Because Egypt has different rules and laws, maybe it was illigal to spread this video and to put it only. But however they were completely wrong by killing him. This made the problem even bigger.

I think the authorities made a big mistake when using violence against Khaled. We still have the universal right to freedom of speech, so there is no way to justice the actions of the police in this case.

I do not agree with this, because you cannot use violence against someone. He was only posting this video to make people aware of this and to show the situation. You have the right to post videos and photos, so they can´t use violence against him

I think it is awful that the police reated s violent! Everyone has the right to post videos, photos or texts online. Khaled tried to convince everyone with his video. He tried to help everyone. I do think it is very good that everyone shows so much support.

I do not agree with the actions of violence against Khaled. Saying the police may not use any violence against anyone is pretty hard to make legitimate. At some point of heavy violation of the law, law enforcers should have the right to use violence.

I do not think that violence is the right thing to do, no matter in which situation. Khaled Said posted that video for a reason: to create awareness. He succeeded, but after that he was not able anymore to help in the fight. It's indeed hard to judge, but I think the police was not allowed to use violence in this case, he only placed a video.

I think the response from the police after this 'incident' was morally wrong and inhumane. I do agree with Manon that in another country other norms and values are maintained. But this does not mean that anyone should approve on behaviour like this. Besides that, the police is setting an awful example for the inhabitants of the country, by using direct violence they might be triggering a certain negative response..

The police did not do the right thing. However, it is hard to judge immediately. Of course the police cannnot break the universal declaration of human rights, they are there to protect these. Yet it is very difficult to judge this in a country with a totally regime. This policy has always been applied, and when this man stood up against it, he was executed. In the Netherlands this would not have been acceptable, yet in Egypt it is reality. It has always been that way. I'm not trying to say that what the police does is okay, yet I do think that it is a different reality which is hard to judge. Still, the police may not under any circumstance use violence without a valid reason.

I think the police was definitely not right to use violence. In my opinion Khaled did the right thing, by putting the video online he wanted to show the world how bad and unfair the situation was. In general, I think the police cannot use violence against anyone.
